There may also be something broken or malfunctioning in the tray mechanism. Now it has trouble opening again, so at least I should clean the rubber band again. I also cleaned the little rubber band inside the drive a while ago, which made it open by itself again, but that's all it did. I suspect the cables inside the 360 might be loose, but I don't know. In order to keep the tray open, I basically have to man-handle it (pressing the eject button rapidly to get the drive to go back and forth to sorta make it recognize the tray is open so it will stop trying to make the tray go back in.) Even when I do that I still don't trust it so I hold the tray in place with one hand and insert the disc with the other, then I let go, and If it stays in place (as it should) I will then click the eject button to close the tray and disc will read no problem. It does have trouble opening though, requiring me to bang on the top of it (it orientated horizontally) to get the tray to open if there is no disc inside, with a disc inside, it opens every time. It has no trouble closing, just opening and STAYING OPEN. Something is happening where it triggers the disc drive to think that something is preventing it from being closed (even though it's being opened, not closed) and then attempts to close harder, which in this weird case is just making it close normally, by itself. Usually what happens is when I click the eject button or open the tray via the dashboard, it opens, the power light doesn't stop blinking, then closes back by itself. It reads discs fine, it's just the tray mechanism ls like, haunted or something. Step 2: Cleaning Time Now it’s time to apply the petroleum jelly. Before you start removing scratches from your CDs and DVDs, you should grab your materials. Banana Method: Use a banana that is peeled and cut in half. Toothpaste Method: Use a small dab of the gritty type of toothpaste. It has this strange problem where the disc drive has trouble realizing it has successfully opened fully and the drive will often close the tray BY ITSELF, usually after about 1 whole second of being fully open. Remove Scratches From a CD/DVD With Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) Step 1: Materials. Here are a few methods to try to fix your scratched disc at home: Rubbing Alcohol Method: Get a lint free non scratching cloth. I have a Falcon Elite console with a Lite-on drive.
